Canada Emergency Response Benefit or CERB, how to apply?


The Canadian government supports people in Canada with the Canada Emergency Response Benefit or CERB. The CERB is a means of financial support to employed and self-employed Canadians who are directly affected by COVID-19.

CERB provides a payment of $2,000 for a 4-week period (the same as $500 a week) for up to 16 weeks, 4 (four) months. Applicants will get their payments within 3 business days or in about 10 business days.

How to apply There are two ways to apply: 

1. Online with CRA My Account Over the phone with an automated phone service
2. Before you call; to verify your identity, you'll need your social insurance number (SIN) postal code
